US Postal Service will no longer deliver mail on Saturday
38 mins ago
They say neither snow, rain, heat nor "gloom of night" can keep the postal service from completing its "appointed rounds" – but they never said anything about weekends. After long threatening to cut Saturday mail delivery, the U.S. Postal Service now says it's going to go ahead and do it. Starting in August, the postman will ring neither once nor twice on Saturdays at residences and businesses, though mail will continue to be delivered to post-office boxes. Saturday package delivery will also continue. Package-delivery volume has increased even as letter-delivery demand has slowed in the age of email. The USPS estimates the service cutback will save it $2 billion annually. Which is a lot of stamps. [Source]
