An image reportedly going viral on Sina Weibo, China's answer to Twitter, will send pretty much anyone — woman, man, gorilla — looking for a razor. The pic shows a pair of legs of difficult-to-determine gender with a full, furry coat of hair stretching from thigh to ankle, where a pair of contrastingly nonhairy feet emerge. "Super sexy, summertime anti-pervert full-leg-of-hair stockings, essential for all young girls going out," the social media poster writes, according to a translation offered by China trend watcher ChinaSMACK. Surely it's a joke, right? Please? Commenters remain intrigued. "Essential for the subway?" wonders one. Others are unimpressed: "If it has come to this, why not just wear pants?" [Source]

JOHANNESBURG — Former President Nelson Mandela of South Africa was hospitalized early Saturday to be treated for a recurring lung infection, the South African government said. It is the fourth time in less than a year that the 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader has been hospitalized, deepening concern about his increasing frailty.

“During the past few days former President Nelson Mandela has had a recurrence of lung infection,” President Jacob Zuma said in a statement. “This morning at about 1:30 a.m. his condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to a Pretoria hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition.”

Mr. Mandela has had chronic lung problems since contracting tuberculosis during his 27-year imprisonment for fighting apartheid. He emerged from prison in 1990 to lead the African National Congress in negotiating an end to the white rule, and in 1994 he was elected South Africa’s first black president.

He served just one term, stepping aside in 1999. He has been largely absent from public life since 2004, and was last seen publicly in 2010 during the World Cup, which South Africa hosted.

As Mr. Mandela’s health has deteriorated, an increasingly ugly battle over his legacy and money has erupted, with two of his daughters suing his close confidant George Bizos over access to a trust fund that Mr. Mandela set up for his descendants. Even the African National Congress, the party to which Mr. Mandela dedicated his life, has come under harsh criticism for releasing a video of party leaders visiting the visibly ailing former president.

Comments from South African officials seemed to indicate that this hospitalization was more serious than previous ones. Jackson Mthembu, a spokesman for the African National Congress, told Britain’s Sky News that the party was “prepared for the worst.”

STUDY: 72% Of Americans Say Legal Recognition Of Gay Marriage Is “Inevitable”

According to a new survey from the Pew Research Center, 72% of Americans believe you can’t stop the same-sex marriage beat. 85% of that number identified as gay marriage supporters and 59% as opponents.
Interestingly, Republicans (73%), Democrats (72%) and Independents (74%) all seem to agree equally on the inevitability of legalization.
The survey was conducted at the beginning of May among 1,504 adults in the U.S. For the first time in Pew polling, just over half (51%) of Americans favor allowing gay men and lesbians to marry legally, though 42% remain opposed. Also, more people know someone who is gay or lesbian, which impacts their perception of marriage equality:

Nearly nine-in-ten Americans (87%) personally know someone who is gay or lesbian (up from 61% in 1993). About half (49%) say a close family member or one of their closest friends is gay or lesbian. About a quarter (23%) say they know a lot of people who are gay or lesbian, and 31% know a gay or lesbian person who is raising children. The link between these experiences and attitudes about homosexuality is strong. For example, roughly two-thirds (68%) of those who know a lot of people who are gay or lesbian favor gay marriage, compared with just 32% of those who don’t know anyone.

While attitudes continue to change, opposition to homosexuality and same-sex marriage still very much exists. 45% of Americans polled believed engaging in homosexual behavior is a sin, while 40% reported they would be upset if their child came out to them as gay; 19% said they’d be very upset. Those numbers aren’t so bad compared to a 2004 poll by the Los Angles Times, in which 60% of Americans said they’d be upset and 30% said they’d be very upset if their child was gay.

Possible Suicide Attempt
Rushed to Hospital

Paris Jackson was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning, and sources tell us it was a suicide attempt.

Paris was taken out of her Calabasas family house on a stretcher at around 2 AM and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The 911 call came in at 1:27 AM.  We're told the caller reported a possible overdose, although a source connected to the emergency response said there was cutting.

On Tuesday night ... Paris posted some cryptic tweets, including, "I wonder why tears are salty?" ... and "yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."

We're told she's doing ok.
